Hasim Phillips

Biography

Hasim Phillips serves as Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Communications Officer, with oversight of the department's communications and RVision staffs. Over the past two decades, he has worked as a media relations professional in the nation's No. 1 media market (New York) with roles both in college athletics and corporate communications. Prior to his elevation, Phillips was the lead media relations contact for the football program and executive producer for the "RFootball Show," a 12-episode television series. This is his second stint with Rutgers Athletics, having previously served from 2004-2012. During his first tenure, he was part of a communications staff twice recognized by the Football Writers Association of America as a "Super 11" department and served as primary media contact for Hall of Fame coach C. Vivian Stringer. From 2012-2019, Phillips worked for The Madison Square Garden Company as Manager for Corporate Communications, assisting with publicity for MSG Sports brand, the New York Knicks' community initiatives, and press event planning. He managed inquiries regarding MSG trademark usage in television and film projects and served as liaison between MSG and the NBA, NHL, and major studios. Phillips is a 2004 Rutgers University graduate with a degree in sports management and earned his MBA in marketing and strategy from the Rutgers School of Business in 2019.
