Brittney O'Dell

Biography

Brittney O'Dell joined the Rutgers Athletics administration as Deputy Athletic Director, Senior Woman Administrator in October 2025. She brings two decades of experience in senior administration, academic services, student-athlete development and leadership at the Division I level. As Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) at Rutgers, O'Dell plays a key role in department administration with oversight of human resources, compliance, academics, sports health and student-athlete development. She also serves as the sport administrator for women's basketball and volleyball. O'Dell joins Rutgers from West Virginia University, where she spent 10 years, most recently serving as Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services and Wellness. In that role, she provided strategic oversight of multiple units, including sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition, sport psychology, academics, and student-athlete development. O'Dell also served as sport administrator for men's and women's swimming and diving and women's tennis. Throughout her tenure at WVU, O'Dell advanced student-athlete well-being by building cross-campus partnerships with academics, counseling and admissions units. Her leadership delivered measurable results, including record team GPAs, consistent graduation success, and innovative wellness initiatives.
