Dr. Fernando Frias

Biography

serving student-athletes and addressing the multiple roles and unique pressures faced by this population. Guided by established best practices for student-athlete mental health care, Frias is dedicated to creating a culture of care that promotes academic and athletic excellence, personal development, and lifelong wellness. Frias graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He attended the University of Utah, earning a master’s degree in exercise and sport science, before obtaining a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver. He completed both his doctoral internship and postdoctoral residency at the University of California, Davis, Student Health and Counseling Services in the emphasis area of applied sport psychology. Frias is a licensed psychologist in the State of Oregon. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant® as administered by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and is listed in the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Sport Psychology Registry. A proud native of El Monte, Calif., Frias lives in Corvallis with his wife, Katie, and children, Sebastian and Clara.
