Eileen O’Rourke

Biography

Eileen O'Rourke was named Northwestern's associate athletic director for academic services and student development in October of 2021. Along with serving as the main liaison from the athletics department to the academic community on campus, O'Rourke has oversight of the day-to-day operations of the department's academic services and student development programs that provide resources and guidance to student-athletes from all 19 varsity programs. O'Rourke originally joined Northwestern Athletics in January 2017 as an Academic Advisor, serving as a core advisor to student athletes from a variety of teams and monitoring academic progress in regard to B1G and NCAA legislation. Prior to joining Northwestern, O'Rourke spent four years at Indiana University where she served as the Assistant Director of Academic Services and Certification, working directly with several of IU's Olympic sports teams and assisting with the NCAA eligibility certification process. She completed a year-long internship at the University of Memphis, serving as the academic advisor for men's soccer and assisting with NCAA initial and continuing eligibility. O'Rourke is an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A). She earned a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education (2008) and a master's degree in sports administration (2010) from Eastern Illinois University, where she was a three-year captain for the varsity women's rugby team.
